On behalf of the Committee I am pleased to be able to inform you that at the 2017 AGM, Joel Djosovic was elected to the Committee

Joel Djosovic grew up as many Gold Coast kids do, playing rugby league, Australian rules and cricket. His initial foray into rugby came when he followed a group of mates and played for the Bond Pirates in the Gold Coast competition.

In 2010 Joel graduated from Bond University with a Bachelor of Property and in 2012 he moved to Melbourne to pursue is career. Upon his move to Melbourne Joel joined MURFC and has been with the club ever since, with the exception of a season back on the Gold Coast with Bond Pirates.  That 2015 season with the Pirate saw Joel play in the 1st Grade Grand Final. Joel has played most of his rugby at flanker but moved to hooker in 2016. The move paid off and in 2017 he won the Geoff Vaughan award for the best front row forward in the club. The end of the 2017 season also saw Joel selected to play for the Victorian Axemen, a thoroughly deserved selection. Joel has shown real leadership both on and off the field and at the 2017 AGM was elected to the Club’s Committee where he is already making a strong contribution.

What stands Joel apart is his relentless search for excellence and his repudiation of mediocrity. We are fortunate to have men and women of this calibre as members of our club.

Please join with me in congratulating Joel on this appointment.
