The Melbourne Rebels are delighted to welcome outgoing Rugby Union Players’ Association (RUPA) CEO, Ross Xenos to the Club as the new General Manager – Commercial & Marketing.
Xenos has been the CEO of the Australian rugby player’s representative body since 2015, after joining RUPA in 2011. He oversaw many roles within the business during this time across player services, stakeholder relations, commercial partnerships and communications.
Melbourne Rebels CEO, Baden Stephenson said: “We are thrilled to welcome someone of the calibre of Ross to the Rebels family and the wealth of experience he brings in the sport and commercial industry.
“Ross is highly respected, professional and comes with a very strong network. We look forward to Ross driving our Commercial pillars which includes many exciting strategies in the local community, regional, interstate and overseas.”
Hailing from Sydney, Xenos has held positions as a Board Director of the International Rugby Players’ Association and also the Chairman of the Australian Athlete’s Alliance. Xenos has recently concluded a brand-new CBA and pay deal for the players in 2017 and navigated a range of high profile challenges during his tenure.
“The Board, Melbourne Rebels and Rugby Victoria fully endorse the appointment of Ross and believe he will add considerable value to rugby in Victoria. Our strategy has shifted and we are doing things differently,” Melbourne Rebels Chairman, Paul Docherty said.
The Melbourne Rebels have made significant steps on and off the field in 2018 and believe that this is another key appointment which will strongly compliment the senior management team.
Xenos will conclude his term at RUPA on 10 August and commence his new role at the Rebels from 13 August.
